Several small former river valleys cut through the southern edge of the old impact basin, unofficially known as 'Holden Basin'. These relatively small valleys are up to 500 metres wide in places. Their entrained sediment probably contributed to the filling of the basin and helped form the large, flat plain that adjoins the basin rim here. The impact crater on the right of the image centre has a diameter of approximately 5.5 kilometres.
