Training under difficult conditions
Matthias Maurer is undergoing extensive training for his mission, often with his French fellow ESA astronaut, Thomas Pesquet. Here, they are rehearsing an emergency in space in the ISS mock-up at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the astronauts have to wear masks throughout their training and follow special safety protocols.
