Taken from Cassini’s image data, this global map of the moon Mimas is an equidistant, cylindrical projection: each quadratic grid cell has the same size, form and surface. All grid intersections are at 90 degrees. The poles are shown in this grid as straight lines at the top and bottom. A characteristic feature of Mimas, the Herschel crater, is seen on the left-hand side of the image. Figures from Greek mythology and the legend of King Arthur were used to name the geological phenomena.
