The Juventae Chasma basin in the equatorial highlands of Mars
Covering an area of 150 by 250 kilometres, Juventae Chasma forms a huge basin on the Martian highlands between the plains of Lunae Planum in the northwest and Ophir Planum in the southeast. The depression, in places 5800 metres deep, opens out into the outflow channels of Maja Valles to the north. The two massifs, imaged during orbit 12,508 on 4 November 2013 by the HRSC stereo camera that DLR operates on board the Mars Express, are clearly visible in the topographical map.
