The German Air Force procured 180 Eurofighters, a modern weapons system for use in the air defence (air to air) and air assault (air to ground) roles. The decommissioning of the F-4F Phantoms and parts of the Tornado fleet tuned the structure of the Air Force to suit its modern tasks. The Eurofighter is a key element in ensuring the future of the Air Force’s contribution to the required capability profile of the armed forces and the related treaty obligations.
