Projects
The Institute is involved in the following projects:

H₂EAT
Comparative study of SOFC drive concepts for aviation

FlyECO
Conception, investigation and validation of a cyclically coupled SOFC gas turbine propulsion system

FAME
Analysis of the air system for the thermal management of a fuel cell propulsion system

Albatros
Analysis of the risks associated with new fuels and energy systems, in particular (hybrid) electric drives and hydrogen-powered aircraft

PULSAR
The Institute supports the PULSAR consortium in identifying the most important research efforts to reduce noise and emissions from aviation in the future.

Elysian E9X
Battery system design and integration for a regional aircraft

DO228HEP
Definition of an aircraft-level requirements document for the safe integration of the electric powertrain into the DO228 test vehicle

DO328
Support with the definition and documentation of development and certification tests, the necessary test set-up and the analysis of the test results with regard to established aviation standards

UpLift
Construction of ground test benches for electric drives to test climate-friendly technologies
ADAPT
Development of a GTlab module for power calculation and prediction of electric propulsion systems
DEPA 2070
Technology projection for components of the electric drivetrain and study on development scenarios for electrified propulsion systems

ELK
The "EmissionsLandKarte" project is concerned with the creation of consistent cadastres of global emissions. The Institute provides models with which the noise emissions of VTOL can be calculated.
PEMScale 1.5
Investigation of a PEM fuel cell drive concept for aviation

HyTazer
Investigations of metal hydrides as secondary storage and for additional functions in the field of aviation

EXACT
Preliminary design of power electronics components for aviation

FGAA
Design and construction of flight demonstrators for testing electrified aircraft concepts for general aviation

HAP-alpha
Design of an electric propulsion system for a microlight aeroplane

VIRLWINT
Preliminary design of the propulsion system and the determination of the noise generation of the electrical components

HEADS
Design and modelling of heat exchangers

ROME
ROME serves to provide validated digital tools for the development of new rotorcraft. The Institute designs electrical machines and analyses their sound generation.

LU(FT)2
Investigation of electric engine noise based on an engine simulator operated in a wind tunnel

EXACT2
Design of electrical propulsion components and propulsion system analyses for aviation
