DLR site Hanover

At DLR's Hanover site, the Institute of Satellite Geodesy and Inertial Sensing focuses primarily on research questions related to the use of quantum technologies and quantum sensors. The aim is to build up competencies for new types of satellite missions, which are also required for satellite-based Earth surveying.

Navigating with centimetre precision, a tap-proof internet or autonomous control of vehicles without radio communication – these are the promises of novel instruments based on quantum mechanical processes and methods. The DLR Institute of Satellite Geodesy and Inertial Sensing in Hanover is developing such technologies. The research conducted here primarily addresses research questions related to the use of quantum technologies and quantum sensors. The aim is to build up competencies for new types of satellite missions, which are also required for satellite-based Earth monitoring.
