SDG 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

Energy is central to almost every major challenge that society is facing. Whether it's jobs, security, climate change, food production or increasing income, access to energy is essential for everyone.

The following DLR research activities support SDG 7:

SDG 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation

Investing in transport, irrigation, energy, and information and communications technologies is crucial for sustainable development and for strengthening communities in many countries. Investment in infrastructure is required to boost productivity and incomes and improve health and education outcomes.

With the number of people living in cities expected to increase to five billion by 2030, we need efficient urban planning and management practices in place to address the challenges of urbanisation.

Climate change affects every country on every continent. It has a negative impact on people's lives and economies. Unless appropriate measures are taken, the increase in the world's average surface temperature is expected to exceed three degrees Celsius this century.
