Jülich
DLR has been conducting research at its Jülich site since 2011. At the heart of the research activities are the two solar towers and Synlight, the largest artificial Sun in the world. Here, new components and processes are tested to make solar power plants more efficient and cost-effective. In addition, production processes for solar fuels and the use of solar heat for industrial processes (for example, desalination of seawater) are being investigated. The research conducted by the DLR institutes based here is carried out in close cooperation with partners from science and industry. It contributes to enabling a rational and environmentally friendly energy supply, both technically and economically.
