6 December 2020 – return to Earth
In December 2020, the Japanese mission Hayabusa2 will return to Earth and, before entering Earth’s atmosphere (at which point it would burn up), will release a sealed capsule containing samples from two different locations on asteroid Ryugu. Decelerated by Earth’s atmosphere and a parachute, the capsule will land in Australia.
