"Flextelligent" - Flexible & intelligent production

The artificial word Flextelligent (flexible & intelligent) describes a production system that can be used flexibly for different products with small batch sizes and, through the use of artificial intelligence, ensures that the data generated can be used to guarantee the quality of the products.

In today's fast-moving economy, flexibility is a key success factor for companies. Flexible and intelligent production systems enable companies to adapt quickly to changing market conditions, customer requirements and technological advances.

Flexibility in production refers to the ability to quickly and efficiently adapt production processes to produce different products in different quantities. Intelligent production systems use advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and the Internet of Things to collect, analyse and respond to data in real time.

By using flexible manufacturing technologies such as modular production lines and robot-assisted manufacturing, companies can quickly introduce new products, meet individual customer requirements and optimise production processes. Intelligent production systems also enable companies to utilise production data to create forecasts, predict maintenance requirements and make efficiency improvements.

Data management:

Efficient data management in production plays a crucial role for companies as it enables them to collect, store and analyse valuable information about their production processes. By utilising this data, companies can not only identify bottlenecks and inefficient processes, but also identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve quality. By using real-time data, companies can react more flexibly to changing market conditions and customer requirements, optimise their production plans and make faster decisions. Ultimately, effective data management helps to strengthen companies' competitiveness by helping them to become more agile and adapt to a dynamic market environment.

One contribution to this is the Shepard data management system, which is being developed at the ZLP Augsburg and will be made available as open source.

Artificial intelligence:

Artificial intelligence offers processes that make it possible to automatically analyse data generated during the production of components. The data can be, for example, process data from machines or measurements of the finished components.
