Research project ENaQ ("Energetic Neighbourhood Area") has received the ODH Award 2023 in the category"Integration". Open District Hub (OHD e. V.), which presented the award in the categories "Innovation", "Integration" and "Impact" for the first time this year, praised the project: "A sustainable energy concept was developed for the Helleheide district that is intended to function fully electrically. In addition to the technical integration and complete sector integration, there is another feature: half of all flats are to become social housing."
Between 2018 and 2023, the BMWK-funded ENaQ project involved 21 project participants in the development of the new Helleheide neighbourhood with over 100 residential units for around 300 people on the site of a former air base in Oldenburg. As part of the project, the Institute of Networked Energy Systems was tasked with modelling the future district energy system and then optimising it in terms of dimensioning and operation.
