- Thematically, the conference will tackle technical, political, economical and ecological challenges in shaping the future energy market.
- The results will be presented at a public panel discussion on Friday, 16th June 2023
- Focus: Energy, sector integration, power market design
With strong content-related participation of the Institute for Networked Energy Systems, the two-day international workshop "Energy Systems Stability 2040 and beyond" begins today at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg in Delmenhorst, Lower Saxony. More than 60 participants from science and industry are taking part in the event to jointly discuss technical, political, economic and ecological challenges as well as questions about future energy market design.
With the event at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg, the organisers want to promote the international exchange of experience on long-term technical-economic solutions for the energy transition. For example, Dr. Jaquelin Cochran from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will report on the reliability of energy systems with renewable energies from the US perspective in her keynote lecture. Dr Knut Styve Hornnes from Statnett Oslo will report on how solutions for an inverter-based grid are being implemented in Norway.
Other keynote speeches will be given by Simon Müller (Director Agora Energiewende), Prof. Christian Rehtanz (TU Dortmund), Prof. Anke Weidlich (University of Freiburg) and Dr Stefan Geißendörfer (Institute for Networked Energy Systems). The total of three sessions will be led by Institute Director Prof. Carsten Agert and Dr Patrick Jochem (Head of Department Energy System Analysis; both Institute for Networked Energy Systems) and Prof. Johanna Myrzik, Head of the Institute for Automation Technology at the University of Bremen.
The results of the individual sessions will be presented at a panel discussion on Friday, 16 June 2023, starting at 3 p.m. and projected onto possible fields of application in the "Bremen/Oldenburg Metropolitan Region". Among others, Lower Saxony's Minister for the Environment, Energy and Climate, Christian Meyer, is expected to take part in the discussion led by ZDF environmental expert Volker Angres. In addition, Institute Director Agert and Johanna Myrzik will also take part in the public panel discussion, which can be attended without prior registration. Admission is free of charge.
