Together with the TU Dresden (Institute for Lightweight Design and Plastics Technology, ILK) and the LRT (Center of Competence for Aerospace Engineering Saxony / Thuringia e.V.), the DLR-SP Institute has created the alliance WIR! –DigiT. Based on a concept initiated 2018, yearly funding is provided in the implementation phase of the BMBF funding program "WE! - Change through Innovation in the Region " since 2019. The aim is to strengthen international competitiveness for the aerospace metropolitan region of Saxony, Berlin-Brandenburg and Thuringia with the help of digitized, cross-company product development. The aim is to realize a life-phase digitalization of products, many of them from the aerospace industry.
