Contact point for research software at DLR

The Institute of Software Technology is the founder of the Software Engineering Initiative at DLR. The initiative supports researchers in the development of sustainable software.

The DLR Software Engineering Initiative is associated with the Research Software Engineers (RSE) movement. The RSE movement is committed to the adoption of software engineering practices in research and to recognising the role of RSE in science.

Software engineering guidelines

Software Engineering Guideline

The software engineering guideline is intended to support DLR scientists in the development of software. Guidelines provide orientation for good software development and documentation practice. The researchers also receive advice for various areas of software development (e.g. requirements management, design and implementation, change management).

Training programmes

With the help of the DLR Software Engineering Network and training programmes, we disseminate the expertise of the Institute of Software Technology in the field of software engineering throughout DLR. Offering suitable support measures is important to us. For example, we offer training in areas such as data and process provenance, visualisation, knowledge management and software analytics. We not only provide training on these topics, but also conduct active research on them.
