Outstanding research results show enormous potential of superconductors for the technology of the near future
Benedikt Fauseweh and Peter K. Schuhmacher from the Institute for Software Technology, together with Andreas Buchheit (Saarland University) and Thortsen Keßler (Eindhoven University), have conducted research on the potential of quantum materials for the technology of the near future.
In an interdisciplinary collaboration, the team of scientists was able to speed up simulations of superconductors enormously by recognising and mathematically calculating different superconducting phases of electrons. The findings could provide an enormous boost to the development of functional materials for high-tech applications. The newly developed method allows the properties of superconductors to be verified in advance using simulations, significantly reducing the physical development and production time of quantum materials.
