Space System Technology
The Space Systems Technology programme is aimed at developing new and innovative technologies for future space missions. All the essential steps are addressed, from mission concept to design development and technical implementation, and on to the validation of individual components and complete systems under real space conditions.
This ensures that mature and reliable technologies are available for demanding future science and research missions.
At the centre of research and development activities are compact and highly integrated satellite systems having masses of up to 250 kilograms and with flexibly deployable subcomponents that allow rapid adaptation to individual mission requirements.
The provision of such systems enables DLR to provide cost-effective flight capabilities and payload space for its own research activities and for the German space industry.
