Tommaso Zaccaria, PhD student in the Astrobiology research group, Radiation Biology Department, has been awarded the Albrecht Berblinger Prize of the European School of Aviation Medicine, which is endowed with 5000 EUR. The award was presented during the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrtmedizin (DGLRM) conference in Dübendorf, Switzerland.
The award recognises his publication on the resilience of bacterial pathogens under Martian conditions and the potential implications for human missions to Mars.
