Prof. Dr. med. Jens Jordan, Director of the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine and University Professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne, has been awarded the Hermann Oberth Medal by the "Internationaler Förderkreis für Raumfahrt" (IFR).

The IFR has the task of communicating the importance and benefits of astronautics for society . With its conferences, the IFR connects space science and space technology with companies, branches of education, society and young scientists. The IFR awards outstanding achievements in the field of space science and space policy, media dissemination of the importance and benefits of space travel and commitment to the next generation of scientists and engineers.

The Hermann Oberth Medal is awarded for outstanding scientific, theoretical and/or experimental work in the field of space technology. In 2024, Prof. Dr. med. Jens Jordan, Director of the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine, received the Hermann Oberth Medal for his achievements in research on the topic of "Effects of environmental factors in space, in aviation and on Earth on human health".
