Economic assessment of new technologies and policy measures in the European transport system

Economically established evaluation methods and model-based analyses can make an important contribution to transport and energy system research at DLR. Until a few years ago, however, economics was rather a marginal topic at DLR, with competencies spread across numerous institutes, although there is a great need for economic expertise both internally and externally at DLR. This has changed in 2018: Economists from six DLR institutes and facilities successfully collaborated on the ÖKONVER project (2018 - 2020). DLR-FW has coordinated ÖKONVER.

The aim of the ÖKONVER project is to bundle the economic competencies within the DLR and to complement or expand them in a targeted manner. In this way, the economic competence available in many places at DLR is to be further developed and made available to the institutes and projects in the transport sector on a broad basis. This not only strengthens the significance of technological research in its content, but also significantly increases DLR's potential for third-party funding if economic advantages can be demonstrated.
