The Heinrich Hertz satellite was mounted on the SYLDA payload adapter required for dual launches and encapsulated within the payload fairing. This top part – known as the 'upper composite' – was then lifted onto the rest of the launcher, where it was placed on top of the second ‘guest’ on the last Ariane 5 flight. Heinrich-Hertz will then launch into space together with SYRACUS IVB. The German communications satellite will be deployed first, followed shortly after by the French mission.
