Mountaineers Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner and Ralf Dujmovits
Researchers at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) enabled the mountaineers Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner and Ralf Dujmovits to view their target – the 8000-metre high mountain K2 – from an unusual perspective. Scientists at the DLR's German Remote Sensing Data Center (Deutsches Fernerkundungsdatenzentrum; DFD) created a highly accurate 3D model of the mountain from satellite data.
