The close cooperation between the partners from research and industry ensures optimum utilisation of technical and financial resources, creates synergies between the technologies for stationary turbomachinery and engines and avoids duplicate developments.

The industrial partners in the field of turbomachinery and energy systems are Siemens Energy, MAN Energy System, MTU Aero Engines and Rolls-Royce Deutschland. The German Aerospace Centre (DLR), in particular the Institute of Propulsion Technology, plays a central role among the major research institutions. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is involved in various joint projects, particularly with the Institute for Mechanics of Materials. Among the university partners, there is broad co-operation in a large number of individual projects and subject areas. More than 20 institutes are currently involved in current and proposed projects within the network.

By promoting young scientists in the various fields of engineering, AG Turbo helps to ensure that Germany continues to occupy a leading position in international competition in the promising field of turbomachinery. With this long-term networking, AG Turbo is unique in Europe and is recognised worldwide.

The Institute of Propulsion Technology focuses its research work on the development and virtualisation of efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft engines and power plant turbines. Research focuses on the evaluation and validation of innovative drive concepts such as the use of hydrogen and alternative aviation fuels in gas turbines and aircraft engines, on highly efficient turbo components and on low-emission combustion chambers.

DLR Stuttgart - Institute of Combustion Technology

The Institute of Combustion Technology is developing solutions to make both energy supply and aviation climate-friendly. To this end, they are further developing regeneratively produced fuels and innovative combustion chamber systems for gas and aircraft turbines.

Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials IWM

The Fraunhofer IWM is a research and development partner for industry and public clients in the field of reliability, safety, service life and functionality of components and systems. The Fraunhofer IWM's approach to material mechanics aims to identify weak points and faults in materials and components, to clarify their causes and, based on this, to offer solutions for safeguarding the use of stressed components, for the development of functional materials and for resource-efficient manufacturing processes.
