Research & Transfer

The DLR Institute of Aeroelasticity is dedicated to research and development in the fields of structural dynamics, unsteady aerodynamics, aeroelastic stability, dynamic loads and their combination. Our employees in Göttingen focus on theoretical-numerical and experimental investigations for fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, engines, gas and steam turbines and wind turbines or components of these systems.

For fundamental and application-oriented experiments on the ground, in wind tunnels and in flight tests, various research facilities are operated and other DLR-internal and external large-scale facilities are used.

Multidisciplinary research work and industrial contracts are carried out with the aim of identifying, analyzing and reliably predicting aeroelastic problems so that new developments can be designed to be operationally safe and weight-optimized. The institute cooperates closely with other DLR institutes, universities, international research institutions and industry in all areas of work and program topics.
