The Police Air Service Congress – Upon Invitation, ZKI reports on the Ahr Valley Survey
On 26 April 2023, the Police Air Service Congress took place at the Landesvolkshochschule in Frenckenhorst near Warendorf in Münsterland. The congress was organised by the Federal Association of Police Flying Personnel (BfPP). In addition to authorities and organisations with security tasks, general and military aviation, as well as the police helicopter and police aviation squadrons of the federal states, DLR was also present with representatives from aerospace medicine and the ZKI.
At the request of the organisers, the ZKI reported on disaster relief from the air as part of a forum. Experiences were exchanged and networks were established. Of particular interest were the reports on the 2021 floods in Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia, which DLR flew over and mapped using its own camera systems and was thus able to make an important contribution to the rapid assessment of the situation.
