Second ZKI-DE User Training 2018

ZKI-DE Signpost at Frankfurt

The Federal Office for Cartography and Geodesy (BKG) and the Center of Satellite based Crisis Information (ZKI) at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) organized a user-training on the ZKI-DE Remote Sensing Service for Federal Authorities at Frankfurt on the Main for the second time in 2018.

Since 2013, the ZKI-DE Service has enabled Federal Authorities to acquire and analyze current and past remote sensing data at short notice, from which ZKI-specific and user-defined information can be generated. The current framework agreement (2017-2020) between the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) and DLR provides, among other things, training users in the application of remote sensing technology and informing them about technological innovations.

Within the two-day training, an introduction into the basics of satellite and aerial remote sensing, the offers of BKG and the service ZKI-DE including all of its components and aspects like the frame conditions, the workflow of a standard activation or the offered portfolio, was presented. In addition, the course offered the chance to share experience on completed activations and to develop new ideas for further developments. An evening program in a laid-back atmosphere made the course round. All in all, the user training got assessed well by the participants.
