The digitalisation of an aircraft throughout its lifecycle.
Linking the real product with its digital image.
As part of the WISDOM (Wing Integrated Systems Demonstration On Mechatronic Rig) project the German Aerospace Center (DLR) - in cooperation with Liebherr Aerospace, FFT Produktionssysteme, TU Berlin and Diehl Aerospace - is developing a demonstrator test rig for future control surface actuation systems.
In the VPH start-up project, a wing flap was designed, manufactured and finally tested in a "digitally integrated interlinking", taking aerodynamics, structure and kinematics into account.
End-to-end virtualisation could make new configurations possible in the first place in order to accelerate the development of climate-friendly aircraft. To this end, both the digital simulation processes and their interlinking are being further developed in the VPH.
To reduce the climate impact, the aircraft must fly efficiently at variable altitudes. The necessary adaptability is ensured by adaptive, multifunctional control surfaces (moveables) on high-aspect wings.
