Online survey on investment decisions in the German electricity sector

  • The target group of the survey includes companies that invest in renewable generation and flexible balancing capacities in the electricity system, as well as banks and credit institutions
  • Participants will then receive a summary of the results. This provides important strategic insights for the industry.
  • Participation is possible until 21 July 2024. Please forward to employees from the target group.
  • Focus: Energy, modelling, market design

With an online survey on investment decisions in the German electricity sector, the InvestAgent research project team is currently creating a valuable database for actor-focused modelling. It is aimed at employees from companies that invest in renewable generation and flexible balancing capacities in the electricity system, as well as people who are involved in the processes of calculation or decision preparation in the context of investment decisions. It also addresses banks, credit institutions and financiers who provide financing for investment projects in the electricity sector.

By forwarding the competition to people from the aforementioned target group, you will be making a valuable contribution to shaping the energy transition. Participation is possible until 21 July 2024 and takes approx. 15 minutes. The survey is being conducted jointly by DLR and the University of Stuttgart. It is anonymous and no personal data will be collected.

Contribution to long-term security of supply

In the InvestAgent research project, the Institute of Networked Energy Systems is investigating how investment decisions can be modelled as realistically as possible. In a second step, the aim is to assess the extent to which the decisions made in the model can contribute both to achieving climate targets and to long-term security of supply. The focus here is on investment decisions in renewable generation and flexible balancing capacities.

The results provide important information for the actor-focused, agent-based modelling. They are transferred into a model and provide fundamental insights for analysing investing actors. There are also advantages for the participants in the survey: they receive a summary of the results. This provides important strategic insights for the sector without revealing sensitive information.
