  • The 1st International Symposium on Energy System Analysis will take place on 11/12 November 2024 in Stuttgart.
  • Abstracts on the key topics of security of supply and resilience strategies for the energy transition can be submitted until 30 April 2024.
  • The symposium is organised by STRise ("Stuttgart Research Partnership on Integrated System Analysis for Energy"), in which the Institute of Networked Energy Systems is involved, among others.
  • Focus: Energy, energy system analysis, knowledge transfer

The 1st International Symposium on Energy System Analysis (ISESA) on 11/12 November 2024 in Stuttgart will take a system-analytical look at our future energy system. Under the title "The next level of security of supply: a resilience strategy for the energy transition", the main focus will be on systemic weaknesses such as a lack of technical flexibility, low user acceptance or the high dependence on rare materials. Researchers who wish to actively contribute their topics to this interdisciplinary exchange can submit their abstracts by 30 April 2024.

In terms of content, the event will focus on the analytical linking of selected topics: What is the context of energy security, extreme weather events and energy justice? How are climate justice and conflicting goals, for example between resilience and social acceptance, interrelated? What elements must a resilience strategy for energy systems be based on? – Prof. Dr Russell McKenna (ETH Zurich) and Prof. Dr Armin Grunwald (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) have already been secured as keynote speakers for the event on these and other aspects.

The symposium is being organised by STRise ("Stuttgart Research Partnership on Integrated System Analysis for Energy"), in which several internationally renowned research institutes are pooling their expertise in order to provide scientifically sound and comprehensive support for the socially and economically significant energy transition project. In addition to the DLR Institute of Networked Energy Systems, the Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW), the Institute of Energy Economics and Rational Use of Energy and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Research (both at the University of Stuttgart) are also involved in STRise.
