Unmanned Aircraft Competence Center
The research facility in Cochstedt is dedicated to the topics of electric flight with a focus on unmanned aircraft systems.
With regard to the planned structural change and a local contribution to the model of the Central German lignite mining area, the focus of research in Cochstedt is on the topic of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Together with the National Test Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (DLR-UX), the Competence Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems is to form the nucleus for an even broader establishment of promising research activities in the field of UAS.
Main research areas are:
- Creation and investigation of simulation and flight test scenarios in the field of UASS
- Creation of an evaluation capability for safety-critical scenarios
- Scaled technology demonstrators for technology testing in flight
- UAS Research Plateau - bundling of cross-institute research in Cochstedt as an integral part of the competence center
