Quantum Effects

The DLR Institutes of Engineering Thermodynamics, AI Safety and Security, and Quantum Technologies are pleased to announce their participation in Quantum Effects at Messe Stuttgart. At the joint booth Quantum BW, they will showcase the latest developments in quantum research, including advanced simulation technologies.

Scientific Departments

Integration of Micro- and Nanosystems

The interdisciplinary approach of the department is to build compact, robust and scalable quantum systems with the help of micro- and nanotechnological process technology.

Quantum Engineering

The department works on applicable quantum technologies, which are developed through simulation, design, realisation and testing for use in space missions as well as in terrestrial applications.

Quantum information and communication

The Quantum Information and Communication department investigates questions of quantum information by utilising synergies between theoretical and experimental basic research and develops technological applications in collaboration with industry.

Quantum metrology

The focus of this department is on the development of quantum metrological instruments suitable for space travel, particularly with regard to their necessary compactness, reliability and robustness. In order to achieve high measurement accuracy, laser measurement technologies are used, for example to realise iodine and resonator-based frequency references, optical frequency combs and laser interferometers.

Quantum nanophysics

The Department of Quantum Nanophysics is involved in research into novel, quantum-based sensors for measuring electric and magnetic fields and for materials research. To this end, atoms are used as self-calibrated and extremely sensitive sensor media. Such sensors promise great advantages for applications in industry or in space.

Theoretical quantum physics

Key research areas include the theoretical analysis of matter wave interferometry for precise navigation and earth observation, sensors for electromagnetic fields, fundamental concepts of physics, entangled light and matter waves for secure communication and improved imaging.
