In collaboration with Henkel AG, we are developing a methodology for the standardized assessment of company sites with regard to external hazards such as extreme weather (heavy rain, flooding) or attacks. Based on this methodology, we are researching how a situation picture enhanced with risk information can support plant security and the plant fire department.

Our initial focus is on analyzing internal and external logistics processes that are crucial to the operation of the sites. These are well suited to examining the impact of external disruptions on production. We develop methods and approaches for the risk assessment of relevant external disruptions and transfer these into application as part of the project. The aim is a risk assessment for several production sites and the development of a tool for presenting a risk enhanced situation picture.

We develop solutions and approaches for the following issues:

  • Dynamic models for mapping logistical processes and value streams and possible external disruptions such as heavy rain, flooding or attacks
  • Simulations of the effects of such disruptions and the resulting risks
  • Risk enhanced situation picture for monitoring core processes and risks
  • Derivation of a framework for cross-site risk assessment
