Munich Satellite Navigation Summit 2024

The Munich Satellite Navigation Summit will take place from 20 to 23 March 2024. Under this year's motto ‘Meeting friends in new orbits’, the conference will revolve around the major topics of future developments in existing GNSS constellations, the emergence and potential of LEO-PNT (Low Earth Orbit - Positioning Navigation Timing) and discussions on the market opportunities of these systems. The panellists will also discuss the trend towards a system-of-systems approach that combines navigation, timing and Earth observation in multiple orbital constellations, thereby leveraging the strengths of each component and reducing individual limitations.

International players will be travelling to Munich to discuss important new developments in the field of satellite navigation and to network with other experts in their field. We expect interesting and stimulating discussions at the interface between research and development, industry and government,.

The Galileo Competence Center (GK) will also provide insights into various topics. On day two, Head of Department Spencer Ziegler will participate in the session ‘Operations of MEO-GNSS and PNT services from LEO Constellations’. On the last day, Katharina Lutz Lloyd will moderate the Munich Flashlights, a session highlighting the rich GNSS research community in Bavaria and how their results can be transferred into industry. Our Head of Department Stefan Schlüter will also participate.

Other highlights will include updates on various GNSS programmes and their future plans, as well as updates on the EU Galileo GNSS. We also look forward to discussing the potential benefits and challenges associated with LEO-PNT systems and their commercialisation.

Other GK colleagues will also be present at our stand (number 3) and look forward to talking to you about our projects.
