The new research aircraft HALO (High Altitude and Long Range Research Aircraft) marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of German atmospheric research and earth observation. HALO is based on an Ultra Long Range Business Jet G 550 from Gulfstream. The combination of range, altitude, payload and extensive instrumentation makes the aircraft a globally unique research platform.
