Motion Platform

AVES simulator centre motion platform
The AVES motion platform can be operated with different simulation cockpits, which enables flexible adaptation to different research and training scenarios.

The motion platform is based on an electro-pneumatic hexapod system with six degrees of freedom, the MOOG type MBEP-6DOF/60/14000kg. This motion system enables precise movements in three linear directions (vertical and two horizontal) as well as three rotational movements: Pitch, Yaw and Roll.

A special motion cueing software is used to realistically simulate the movements of a variety of aircraft. The software makes it possible to individually adapt the movement behaviour according to requirements. Special settings can be made for studies with aeroplanes, helicopters or to investigate passenger comfort.

The platform can be operated with different simulation cockpits, which enables flexible adaptation to different research and training scenarios. The Hexapod system is characterised by its high dynamics and load capacity of over ten tonnes. Due to the motion platform’s natural frequency of over 10 Hz, even high frequencies can be displayed in great detail. The platform is accessible via a scissor lift table, which is also used to transport the simulation cockpits via a rail system.
