Airbus EC135

The simulation cockpit of the Airbus Helicopter EC135 is a precise replica of the Flying Helicopter Simulator (FHS). It offers space for two pilots, a flight test engineer and an observer. The workstation of the flight test engineer corresponds to that of the FHS, while the operator's cabin offers space for an additional person.
All devices in the cockpit are designed as replicas and are connected to a central interface computer via a CAN bus. The control force system is active and comprises eight electric actuators with integrated force sensors. This enables flexible adjustments of the control forces for the pilot and ensures optimised transmission behaviour. The axles can be coupled or decoupled as required. The force characteristics have been set to match the original FHS in order to simulate the control forces as realistically as possible.
The cockpit not only enables the flight characteristics of existing helicopters to be analysed, but also the testing of new helicopter configurations, especially for operations close to urban areas.
