DLR and TU Braunschweig to Host ASDA Spring School in March 2025
Next spring, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and TU Braunschweig will hold a ASDA Spring School on Innovative Drone Applications. From March 17 to 28, 2025, students and early-career researchers are invited to participate in this immersive program, held at the DLR site in Braunschweig and the National Experimental Test Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems in Cochstedt.
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), commonly known as drones, are a key technology of the 21st century, with applications ranging from remote sensing and data analysis to medical transport and last-mile delivery. This Spring School offers participants a comprehensive introduction to current and future drone technologies, with a particular focus on automation and innovative applications.
The program combines theory with practical applications and is led by experts from research and industry. Participants will explore critical topics such as drone modification, flight testing, sensor selection and configuration, as well as the regulatory requirements for operating unmanned aerial systems. Through realistic exercises and demonstrations, they will learn each step of mission planning—from component selection and scenario definition to data analysis after a flight. In addition, participants are offered the opportunity to prepare for an A1/A3 remote pilot licence including examination.
The Spring School is specifically designed for students and researchers who focus on drone technologies and automation in their studies or research. The event promotes collaboration between research and young scientist to strengthen early-career talent in the field of UAS applications.
