The flagship of European Earth observation is the Copernicus programme with its extensive fleet of Sentinel satellites. Copernicus provides indispensable data – the basis for a large number of daily activities like the safe operation of critical infrastructure and science. This data provides the foundation for researching and monitoring climate change, applications in modern agriculture and disaster prevention. The largest and most successful European Earth observation programme is financed and implemented in a European network, alongside ESA's 'Living Planet' programme.
