Goals

  • Creation of a national research code for the simulation of wind energy converters (WEA) based on the DLR THETA-Code
  • Replacement of the TAU Code in WEA applications (for efficiency reasons)

  • Enhancement of THETA with respect to
    • CHIMERA (for movable structures)
    • fluid-structure coupling
    • „weakly compressible flow“
    • improved transition and turbulence modelling
    • increase in efficiency for large-scale simulations (HPC)
  • demonstration of a complete converter including atmospheric effects
