First PLATO observation field selected form PLATO SWG
The blue fields show the areas observed by 24, 18, 12 and 6 cameras. The shades of blue represent different arrangements: dark blue corresponds to the field observed by 24 cameras. In July 2023, the Science Working Team selected the first field that PLATO will observe for at least two years. It is located in the southern sphere around the star Canopus in the constellation Ship's Keel or Carina.
