DLR has successfully conducted the first flight of the HyBird demonstrator at the National Test Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems in Cochstedt. The flight tests in Cochstedt saw a new aircraft configuration flown for the first time. The current 1:4 scale HyBird demonstrator consists of a high-wing aircraft with a large propeller at each wingtip and at each tip of the V-tail. In the future, this concept will carry five to nine passengers at least 700 to 1000 kilometres.
