SAR-Lupe
The SAR-Lupe System consists of five identical satellites, which were launched in intervals of six months. It serves the German Federal Armed Forces as a national reconnaissance system for monitoring areas of interest. With its high-resolution radar SAR-Lupe provides a repetitive, worldwide reconnaissance capability with perfect picture quality, independant of weather and lighting conditions.
GSOC was responsible for the Launch and Early Orbit Phase and satellite commissioning-testing. It is also used as a back-up control center during routine operations of all five satellites.
Routine operations is carried out by OHB Bremen on behalf of the German Federal Armed Forces using the routine control center in Gelsdorf near Bonn. Misssion Planning and data interpretation is performed by the German Federal Armed Forces in Gelsdorf.
