Successful positioning of the satellite by means of the classical 3-impulse method into its planned position of 23.5°. After termination of the in-orbit tests GSOC was responsible for all satellite operations (routine and other). In August 1990 the operational responsibility for DFS-1 was transferred from GSOC to the Routine Control Center of the Deutsche Bundespost at Usingen. For an additional three months the GSOC operation team remained in so-called "Hot Standby", i.e. being capable at any time to take over the operation if necessary.
DFS 2:
This satellite was positioned to its geostationary location and made available to the Usingen Control Center for telecommunication operations within eleven days. GSOC was responsible for routine satellite operation until March 1991.
DFS 3:
The launch of this satellite with a DELTA II rocket symbolised another new mission profile in comparison to the launch orbits of ARIANE or ATLAS. Further development of existing maneuver strategies allowed a fast maneuver sequence which enabled GSOC to position the satellite within only six days.
