ELSA co-operation workshop

The ELSA teams of the Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures and the Institute for AI Safety and Security.

Last week, the two ELSA teams (Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects) of the DLR Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructure and the Institute for AI Safety and Security met for a two-day workshop in Bremerhaven to discuss current projects and possible future cooperation.
The importance of comprehensive analyses in the complex fields of AI and critical infrastructure protection and the need for a holistic approach were emphasised.
Collaboration between the teams is a proactive step to better navigate the constantly evolving AI landscape. Thus, ethical, legal and societal dimensions are integrated into high-tech research areas. This is being done in an attempt to develop a well-rounded perspective and to create trustworthy and compliant AI systems, especially when they are used in safety and security-critical situations.
The two teams will continue to work closely together to take this project forward. The aim is to make a concrete contribution to the ongoing scientific debate.
