Europe's future Ariane 6 launcher is scheduled to launch into space for the first time in 2022. To ensure that it can safely deliver all payloads into their planned orbits, the propellants for the new launcher must be extensively tested beforehand. A new facility has been built at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) site in Lampoldshausen to test the upper stage of the new launcher. Entire upper stages can be tested in this facility, making it unique in Europe.
