About Nailya Maitanova
Nailya Maitanova completed her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering at HAW Hamburg (B.Sc.) and at the German-Kazakh University of Almaty, Kazakhstan (B.Ing.) as part of a double degree programme. After two years of professional experience, she continued her academic career and studied Renewable Energies (M.Sc.) at the Technical University of Cologne. After graduating, she did not want to leave the exciting world of research and has since been working as a research assistant in the Energy Systems Technology department at the DLR Institute of Networked Energy Systems in Oldenburg for the EMGIMO research project.
As part of the EMGIMO research team, she investigated how measurement data from smart meters can be used to supply commercial properties with energy as CO2-neutrally as possible and integrate charging options for electromobility in a grid-compatible manner. In September 2019, Ms Maitanova presented the research results from the EMGIMO project and the tool developed for forecasting PV power at the EU PVSEC conference in Marseille, France.
She is currently investigating the following topics as part of her doctorate: Flexibility in energy management, flexibility quantification and the use of artificial intelligence in energy management systems.
