About MUSC-Team Biolab
The Biolab team at the Microgravity User Support Centre (MUSC) of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) has been in existence since 2003 and currently employs eleven people. Biolab was brought to the International Space Station (ISS) on a space shuttle in 2008 and the team's first task was to commission the facility. Since then, 14 experiments have been carried out or supported in Biolab.
Each and every member of the team is certified as a flight controller and regularly monitors and controls activities for Biolab in microgravity in Earth orbit. They are jointly responsible for the safety of the astronauts and the space station as well as the success of the mission, which usually means carrying out the experiments, but also ensuring that Biolab is always ready for use.
