About Hauke Hußmann
Hauke Hußmann is acting head of the Planetary Geodesy Department at the DLR Institute of Planetary Research in Berlin. There he focuses on the moons of the outer Solar System, in particular on their internal structure and development. Last but not least, the question of oceans inside the icy moons and their characterisation by measurements on space probes plays a major role.
Hußmann is Principal Investigator (PI) of the Ganymede Laser Altimeter (GALA) on the ESA JUICE mission and Co-Principal Investigator of the BepiColombo Laser Altimeter (BELA) on the ESA/JAXA BepiColombo mission to Mercury. As Co-Investigator, he is also part of the science team behind the Subsurface Radar Instrument REASON and the Gravity and Radio Science Experiment G/RS of NASA's Europa Clipper mission.
