About Anko Börner
Anko Börner is head of the Real-Time Data Processing department at the DLR Institute of Optical Sensor Systems in Berlin. He studied electrical engineering at Ilmenau Technical University and "landed" at DLR during an internship, which has stayed with him ever since.
He works (when administrative tasks lose the battle for priorities) on the design, modelling and evaluation of cameras and the processing of image data. Classic methods, such as Fourier transformation, play just as important a role as modern ones. Some artificial intelligence methods enable truly revolutionary advances. One aim is to utilise this potential for the very specific tasks at hand.
He has also been involved in many projects in various roles and functions. The spectrum ranges from project management for NASA's InSight mission to performance analyses for the PLATO mission and support for many internal DLR projects.
It is important to Anko Börner to transfer developed methods and technologies into practical applications. And this for tasks in a wide range of application areas - from space travel to transport. Together with his team, he developed the Integrated Positioning System (IPS) over several years and brought it to product maturity.
