About Alessandra Roy
Alessandra Roy studied astronomy at the University of Bologna (Italy). She received her doctorate in geodesy at the University of Bonn. She worked for almost 16 years at the University of Bonn and at the Max Plank Institute for Radio Astronomy in the field of 'Very Long Baseline Interferometry', in cooperation with the German Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie; BKG) and the International VLBI Service. She was part of the Event Horizon Consortium. Since October 2017 she has been working for the German Space Agency at DLR in the Space Science Department. She is responsible for the ESA missions PLATO, Euclid and Gaia and is Project Scientist for the bilateral US-German mission SOFIA.
